CL 2 1896 Latimer Ballou, born in Cumberland in 1812, prominent businessman, politician and religious leader. Banker. Worked for the state Republican party and was chosen to introduce Abraham Lincoln at Harris Hall in March 1860. Served as RI presidential elector for Lincoln that year. U.S. Representative. Active in Universalist Church in Woonsocket.
