269 Prospect Street. Thurber-Rathbun house. Elaborate mid-19th century brownstone trimmed brick dwelling capped
by a slate mansard roof. Designed by Michael Volk of New York. Thomas Thurber had the home built. It passed to
Rachel Harris Rathbun, daughter of Edward Harris, wife of Oscar Rathbun, banker and textile mill owner. Succeeded
his father-in-law as president of Harris Woolen mills.
