Harris Pond looking south from the site of the former Midland Division railroad tracks. Harris Pond was created by
Edward Harris when he dammed the Mill River in the early 1860's in order to create a mill trench for manufacturing in
his mills on Privilege Street. The "privilege" to these water rights granted by the state of Rhode Island gave this
section of the city and the street its name.
