Aram J. Pothier (b.1854 in Canada, d.1928 in Woonsocket), businessman and political leader. Came to Woonsocket in 1870 and worked for the Woonsocket Institution for Savings, eventually became its president. Was Mayor and longest-term Governor of RI. His association with French and Belgian industrialists led to their establishing several so-called French mills in Woonsocket
