The John Arnold house at 99 Providence Street. Home of the first permanent settler in Woonsocket. His second 
house, built near his first house. City's oldest known building (c. 1712). Arnold was a farmer and miller who operated 
the family businesses at the Woonsocket Falls. First president of the Smithfield Town Council in 1731. In his time this 
area was part of the town of Smithfield.
